Galicia

Galicia is the part of Spain that lies north of Portugal and borders the Atlantic Ocean. And it wouldn’t surprise me if this turns out to be your best experience in all of Spain. Galicia is beautiful, cheap, has delicious food, is hospitable, and more touristy than you think. While we northwesterners seek warmth and flock to southern Spain in the summer, Spaniards think the exact opposite. They know that it’s much more pleasant to spend time in northwest Spain in the summer. Most tourists are primarily Spanish tourists from the Madrid region, who appreciate cooler temperatures in the summer. Daytime temperatures average 25-28 degrees Celsius and evenings are wonderfully cool, without having to put on a sweater. I’ll sign you up for it. The traditional dish is Pulpo, or squid. Squid with cider, try it!
