When Mining disappeared in Bilbao; the last mine closed in 1993. The city needed to reinvent itself. The Guggenheim Museum gave the city a new allure. The mindset changed. And the polluted area was given back to nature. A different nature than before industrialization. Rainwater filled the open-cast mines, small lakes formed, and a new natural environment was born. And right here in the middle lies Meaztegi Golf Course.
